Medaille University is seeking a full-time Financial Aid Counselor. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of administering financial aid including counseling and assisting students.
The qualified applicant will possess a bachelor's degree and up to two years' relevant experience in a customer service office based setting. The successful candidate will strive to work in a higher education environment with a focus on student financial aid while working with a diverse group of students and staff around the University campus. Excellent customer service, communication, organizational and time-management skills are necessary. Experience with recordkeeping, data entry and strong computer skills in Microsoft Office products is preferred. Higher Education and specifically financial aid familiarity is preferred. The Financial Aid counselor will assist and advise current and prospective students on all matters of financial aid. This will include advising and awarding on student financial aid using the Banner system through in person, phone and email communication. Tracking financial aid progress of assigned students through the completion of the FAFSA, verification of needed items, following up with students on needed items to clear their student accounts, tracking of withdrawals and reconciliation of assigned student’s aid.
Some weekends and evenings required.
