Required Relevant Education & Experience:
Terminal degree in the field in which the individual will be teaching is required. Experience teaching K-12 in Art Education. ABD candidates may be considered if Ph.D. is earned prior to start date. Position to begin August 1, 2023.

Position Details:
The Department of Art and Design seeks to hire a Tenure - Track Faculty to teach the Art Education undergraduate curriculum. The primary responsibilities include teaching face-to-face courses in art education; mentor art education students; observe student teaching; work collaboratively with the Bayh College of Education; contribute with academic advising; engage in student assessment as per department standards. Engage in research/scholarly/creative and service activities at levels that are appropriate to faculty rank and departmental tenure/merit criteria. Provide service to the Department of Art and Design, the University and the profession. May conduct supplemental instructional activities such as independent studies, internships, advising, and thesis/dissertation supervision.

The Department of Art and Design at Indiana State University offers NASAD-accredited programs. The Art Education program is housed in the newly renovated Fine Arts building. The $15 million state-of-the-art facility includes a large studio classroom with an adjacent, ventilated kiln room, pottery wheels, and extensive storage for supplies.
Terminal degree in the field in which the individual will be teaching is required, with experience teaching K-12 in art education classrooms. Applicants must provide proof of professional licensure. Preferred qualifications include a terminal degree or ABD in Education or a related field with a focus on art education. Position to begin August 1, 2023.
A commitment to teaching undergraduates and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential. Teach all art education courses ; Course load (fall and spring) may include Introduction to Art Education, Secondary Art Education, Visual Arts for Special Students, Current Problems in Art Education, Elementary Visual Arts Education, and additional courses as needed; work with faculty in the Bayh College of Education; contribute with academic advising; mentor Art Education students; observe student teaching including observation at each student's school site. Additional responsibilities include use of instructional technology, working with diverse learners, communicate effectively, demonstrate effective curriculum, instructional, and assessment practices. Perform other related duties as assigned.
