Position Highlights

The Center for Innovation in Brain Science (CIBS) is an exciting research nexus at the University of Arizona cultivating collaborations and providing expertise in the area of translational neuroscience. The Faculty in CIBS conduct cutting-edge research primarily related to four specific age-related neurodegenerative disorders - Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

The center is currently seeking a Animal Technologist III to participate in day-to-day operations supporting clinical animal operations. Candidates shall maintain detailed documentation of laboratory procedures and experiments while adhering to all Standard Operating Procedures and safety policies. The selected applicant must be comfortable and efficient in a fast-paced, dynamic, and growing environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monthly weights, barbering scale, and clinical observation collection and upload to Climb (w/SOP)
  • Rodent phenotyping, including blood draws and Pap smears
  • Tagging and genotype sampling of weanlings (w/SOP)
  • Entering new weans into Climb (w/SOP)
  • Splitting breeder pairs per instruction
  • Fasting animals for experimentation M-F 7am-5pm
  • Performing all in-person tasks regarding animal transfer requests
  • Assist in necropsies as necessary

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Three (3)years of relevant work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science
