St. John Fisher University, an independent, liberal arts institution in the Catholic tradition of American higher education, is undertaking a national search for a Dean of the School of Business. Located in Rochester, NY. St. John Fisher’s talented and dedicated faculty and staff of over 420 provide approximately 2,600 undergraduates and 1,000 graduate students a wide range of academic opportunities in liberal arts, pre-professional programs, business, education, nursing, and pharmacy.

St. John Fisher University seeks in its Dean of the School of Business an innovative, collaborative, and committed leader who will partner with the Provost, the President, and the faculty to take the School to the next level of excellence by graduating “Day 1 Ready” business professionals who will meaningfully impact their organizations, communities, and society; by increasing enrollment; and by enhancing the School’s reputation in the Rochester area and beyond.

With an enrollment of 524 undergraduate students and 74 graduate students, the School of Business’s five undergraduate majors and online MBA blend liberal arts learning and professional education that develop critical-thinking skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to ethical decision-making. The Interim Dean and 20 full-time and 21 adjunct faculty have spent the past two years working on a refresh of the strategic plan designed for the future and are strategically expanding its academic programming to provide innovative, high-quality, educational opportunities. Fully accredited by AACSB, the School of Business has received recognition in the Rochester Business Journal’s Reader Rankings including the #2 ranking in the “Best MBA Program.”

The Dean is the academic leader and chief administrative officer of the School of Business. The Dean reports directly to the Provost for all aspects of the operation of the School, including its conduct and development as an instructional, research, and service unit. As the senior administrative representative of the School, the Dean works closely with officers of the University and is responsible for communicating information concerning programs and departments between officers of the University and the School’s leadership.

Qualifications for the Dean of the School of Business include but not limited to:

• Successful, progressive leadership experience in an academic or other complex organizational structure
• An earned Doctorate in a Business-related field from an AACSB-accredited institution or equivalent
• A distinguished record of teaching and scholarship consistent with achieving tenure at the University
• An ability to optimize resources to achieve the School’s and the University’s strategic goals
• Experience with the AACSB accreditation process
