Position Highlights
This position performs a variety of duties to support the Outdoor Recreation Department of Campus Recreation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading and facilitating groups through a variety of team-building activities and outdoor programming. This position is also responsible for inspection, repair and upkeep of bicycles, rental gear, bouldering wall and trip equipment in a timely manner in order to accommodate classes, trips and ongoing rentals, and to maintain clear and concise records. These activities may occur at the Rincon Vista Complex, Student Recreation Center, North Recreation Center, Campus Bike Station or alternative off-site facilities.
Since the Outdoor Recreation program serves the needs of the university community as well as the Tucson community, this position also involves customer service and outreach to generate excitement and participation. This position plays a vital role in safety and risk management, ensuring that participants are able to participate in programs efficiently, effectively and safely. This position relies heavily on customer service, facilitation and leadership skills to offer a quality experience for the user.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings and trainings
- Model department values and expectations
- Assist in the set-up and take-down of the course in preparation for groups
- Facilitate programs in a safe, effective, and engaging manner
- Complete pre- and post- rental inspections
- Execute necessary repairs
- Provide customer service to all patrons/ participants
- Ensure the Emergency Action Plan is implemented and followed when necessary
- Make informed decisions as necessary to appropriately accommodate patrons while maintaining the best interest of the department
- Work collaboratively with division and departmental staff to achieve the needs and goals of the organization
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Customer service, facilitation and leadership skills
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in outdoor and recreational operations
