Job Description

The School of Engineering at Texas A&M International University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Instructor position with a start date of Fall 2023. The teaching load will be between 12-15 credit hours every semester depending on teaching needs. The candidate will primarily teach general engineering courses that are taken by students in the different engineering programs offered by the School. The School is looking for candidates who have a robust commitment to hands-on undergraduate engineering education. The School has three undergraduate programs: systems engineering, computer engineering, and petroleum engineering. There is also a pre-engineering program that is a bridge for transfer to other institutions or help students explore engineering before choosing a major within the School. Candidates with prior teaching experience, prior technical writing experience and prior experience in ABET accreditation activities are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications:

Successful candidates must have a Master's degree in an engineering or closely-related discipline. Successful candidates must be able to teach a variety of general engineering courses such as Foundations of Engineering, Fundamentals of Programming, Engineering Graphics, Thermodynamics, Statics and Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials, Engineering Ethics, and Engineering Economics. Successful candidates must also be able to teach in a laboratory setting by designing and implementing meaningful laboratory experiments and maintaining and operating laboratory equipment. Moreover, successful candidates are expected to engage in service activities when called upon such as ABET accreditation activities, program development initiatives, and other duties as necessary.
