Job Description
The Registration Assistant processes student registrations and provides customer service to in-person visitors/registrants and administrative support for the College's Workforce and Community Education (WCE) division.
Duties include processing in-person, online, and mail-in WCE course registrations and withdrawals; processing check and credit card payments and performing daily payment balancing and reporting; greeting and assisting visitors; answering and responding to high-volume phone inquiries; maintaining WCE data and performing data clean-up; assisting the Finance department with noncredit billing problems; and assuring the reception area has current information and materials.
The Registration Assistant performs other duties such as processing transcript requests; providing support services to evening instructors, including duplicating material for use in the classroom; maintaining electronic and hard-copy files; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Required Education
High school diploma or GED.
Required Experience
One to three years of customer service, office, or related experience, including experience using Microsoft Office applications, is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Other requirements include excellent customer service and communications skills, strong attention to detail; the ability to handle a high-volume of phone calls and work effectively in a busy, sometimes high-stress, environment; the ability to maintain files accurately, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to work and cooperate with co-workers and supervisors at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
Data entry experience is preferred.
General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday to Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. Occasional changes in work hours may be required to meet division needs. Final schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
