Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates will hold a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, be a member in good standing of a state bar association, and have experience teaching coursework at the college level as the instructor of record. In addition to these requirements, the following qualifications are desired:
* Willingness to teach Business Law and other courses (e.g. insurance, real estate, employee benefits)
* Three-plus years of legal experience in business or the practice of law

License/Certification Required

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Description of the Department or Unit

The Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance in the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor beginning Fall Semester 2023. This position will include teaching Business Law and possibly other courses. The successful candidate is expected to engage in research and scholarly activities sufficient to meet faculty tenure requirements.
The Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance includes 20 full-time finance,
insurance and law faculty serving approximately 350 undergraduate majors. The
department also provides classes for the MBA and other graduate programs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Faculty typically teach three classes per semester and serve on department, college,
and university committees. Successful candidates will provide evidence of an ongoing
commitment to excellence in student instruction and engagement, produce quality
research, and maintain strong relationships with professional organizations.
