Position Announcement

Working in Facilities Management, this position works under the direction of the Building Maintenance Supervisor and alongside the Access Services Technician to assist with general building maintenance and locksmith duties. Performs general building maintenance and repairs across campus, as needed; maintains organization's automated security systems and employee identification card system, performing preventative and general maintenance on doors and door hardware; Serves as the point of contact for security system-related issues. Responsibilities
  • Assist Building Maintenance Supervisor with general building maintenance and repairs. This includes carpentry for buildings, both interior and exterior.
  • Perform work on small construction projects. May be called on to help other departments move furniture and other equipment.
  • Help with coordinating projects and perform parking lot maintenance, repair and stripping.
  • Install new locks, closures and associated hardware.
  • Maintain and repair all door and window hardware.
  • Re-key locks and make keys, when required.
  • Provide preventative maintenance of doors and door hardware. This includes review and minor repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED required; Locksmith Technical Training or experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the International Building Code and general construction.
  • Ability to perform general building maintenance and complete small constructions projects.
  • Strong knowledge of various fasteners and their use.
  • Ability to climb and work from a ladder.
  • Knowledge of procedures for painting.
  • Knowledge of proper use of power tools, and ability to operate motorized equipment such as a pickup truck and forklift. Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints and plans.
  • Knowledge of or willing to learn access control systems, including installation, programming and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of or willing to learn keys, locks and closure systems.
  • Good knowledge of computers and software required for access controls and general communication.
  • Ability to lift or move heavy parcels, machines or equipment up to 50 pounds (Lift test and physical required as part of hiring process).

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time classified staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $38,000 - $40,000 depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of December 1, 2022.
