Job Description
The Harford Youth Orchestra (HYO) is a thriving part of Harford Community College's noncredit youth programming. The orchestra provides a professional atmosphere in which to learn and play. HYO is open to string, wind and percussion students grades 9-12 who are currently enrolled in their school orchestra program, where available.
The Rehearsal Assistant attends weekly rehearsals to help students learn their music, both one-on-one and in small groups. Other duties include preparing and assigning music folders, communicating with students and parents/guardians and collaborating with the Conductor.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Required Education
An associate degree in music performance, music education, or music theory is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
Required Experience
A minimum of one year teaching experience required, including experience working with students one-on-one or in group settings.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to play a string instrument
General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday events, 7 to 9 p.m.
