Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology
AUGUSTANA UNIVERSITY, aselective, private, liberal arts institution invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Biology beginning late August 2023. A Ph.D. is expected, though applicants who are very near completion of their Ph.D. will be considered; teaching experience is strongly preferred. The position is renewable for a second year, contingent on administrative approval.
TEACHING EXPECTATIONS: Duties typically include teaching 2-3 lectures and 2-4 labs each semester (a total of 14-16 contact hours per semester), along with a January term course. As the position will fulfill courses open from sabbatical leaves, the load will span a broad range of introductory and mid-level courses. Candidates should indicate what course areas they would be comfortable teaching, particularly from genetics, physiology, microbiology, plant ecology, and general biology.
RESEARCH EXPECTATIONS: There are no research expectations for this position.
SALARY: Salary is competitive and dependent upon qualifications; excellent fringe benefits are included.
