Job Description:

The Department of Marketing at Fairfield University invites applications for an Assistant or Instructor of the Practice position in the Dolan School of Business to begin Fall 2023. This is a non-tenure track, full time, fixed term, renewable position. Candidates must be able to teach in the area of Business Communication. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of various business communication strategies, such as how to use the main forms of business messages, how to write a persuasive message and proposal, among others. Candidates that can also teach in multiple areas of marketing are highly encouraged to apply. Candidates should show a commitment to innovation and demonstrated excellence in using technology in the classroom.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching four courses each semester at the undergraduate level. Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening, face-to-face, hybrid and online. The candidate may also need to teach graduate level courses. 
  • Advising students and providing career guidance.
  • Contributing to course, curriculum, and program development.
  • Providing service to the department, the Dolan School of Business, the university, and the community at-large as necessary and appropriate.
  • Keeping the department and school current on industry practices and innovation.


Candidates, at minimum, must have an M.S. or M.B.A in business or related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of 5 years of marketing professional experience. Preference may be given to candidates who have completed or are in the process of completing a PhD or DBA in Marketing.
