About the Opportunity
Under the direction of the Supervisor, this position will perform maintenance and repair on various types of mowing equipment, snow removal equipment, grounds equipment, trucks, specialty equipment, etc.

What you'll do:
- Functions as a team leader, providing guidance to Mechanics, Skilled Craft Specialists, journeymen, trades workers, and any other support personnel as required. Follows procedures and makes work assignments to those individuals assigned to the crew to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion ensuring proper quality and quantity. Inspects completed work assignments of journeymen craft workers, trades workers, and helpers to ensure quality control. Ensures that proper safety procedures are used while performing job duties.
- Receives work orders. Interfaces with Work Control, Supervisor, Managers, and requesting party to finalize project needs and scope. Assists manager with multi-craft projects related to overall work assignments. Communicates work schedules and goals to employees and customers, creating efficiency and timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Provides continual inspection of assigned area to ensure maintenance is completed on schedule.
- Individual will maintain knowledge of state, federal, and local codes and requirements pertaining to maintenance. Individual will attend project meetings and interact with vendors as needed. Will maintain DEP Oil & Fuel records as required by law.
- Determines and recommends to the Operations Manager the needs of the project in regard to crew size, types of crafts, material availability, equipment, paperwork, safety checks to maintain proper work, and material flow in order to maintain schedule. This includes all aspects of Visa Card Accountability.
Work Hours:Monday-Friday; 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Pay Grade:15,WVU provides competitive wages for its employees, and takes experience and related education into consideration when determining appropriate salary.Qualifications
Job requires broad knowledge or specific technical or business knowledge received from a formal registered apprentice or vocational training program of up to 18 months beyond high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of technical or vocational training program of 18 months beyond high school within a maintenance, landscaping, heavy equipment operation area or equivalent
- At least two (2) years of experience in the maintenanceandrepair of grounds equipment,large construction equipment,and trucks of allsize.
- Demonstrated ability to perform skilled landscape tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead work groups.
- Demonstrated ability to operate all types of grounds equipment. Ability to perform mathematical computations.
- Knowledge of warehousing functions. Ability to climb heights over ten feet.
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Ability to work with people in a stressful environment.
- Ability to have excellent hand to eye coordination.
- Ability to hear and interpret sounds in work area and verbal instructions. Ability to lift materials weighing over 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in extreme hot or cold weather conditions.
- Ability to use logical problem solving techniques.
- Ability to communicate well utilizing both written and oral instructio ns.
- Ability to work in uncomfortable positions as may be required by job assignment.
- Ability to work with multi-craft personnel.
- Ability to carry heavy (50-75 pounds) or awkward objects.
- Ability to wear a respirator.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain average or above work standards.
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
- DEPClassCResponderCertification(State)preferred
- Physical requirements include the ability to:
- Lift, bend, stoop, walk, reach, and stand for extended periods of time
- Climb to heights over 10 feet
- Use excellent eye to hand coordination
- Hear and interpret sounds in the work area and verbal instructions
- Lift materials over 75 pounds
- Ability to wear a respirator
