Assistant or Associate Professor of Speech and Language Pathology/ Communication Disorders Program Director
The School of Education at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in Speech and Language Pathology and Program Director for our Undergraduate Communication Disorders program beginning in August 2023. This faculty member will become a member of the faculty within the Communication Disorders program within the Sharon Lust School of Education. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities: This faculty member will be responsible to teach undergraduate courses in Speech and Language, and will also coordinate and supervise clinical experiences for the Communication Disorders program. In addition, this person will serve as the program director for the Communication Disorders program at Augustana for a vibrant program that consistently enrolls approximately 40 students on an annual basis.
Successful applicants will demonstrate strong commitment to student-centered teaching excellence within the context of the liberal arts. In addition to teaching courses and leadership responsibilities for the program, this faculty member would have responsibilities in advising, as well as service and professional development and/or scholarship expectations.
Qualifications: An earned Master’s degree (MA or MS) in Speech and Language Pathology from an ASHA accredited program is required, an earned doctorate is preferred. Qualified applicants will have a minimum of three years of professional experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist. Other important qualifications include: experience, commitment, and excellence in teaching and mentorship; evidence of research in the field; vision, energy, and creativity for sustaining the excellence of the Communication Disorders program. Candidates with prior experience in leadership and/or higher education are preferred.
