Associate Director, Center for Community Engagement
The associate director will be responsible for determining the planning, implementation and assessment of programs and initiatives designed to enhance and deepen students’ engagement with the community, and the attainment of core competencies related to civic engagement. Toward that end, the position will also have responsibility for developing and maintaining strategic community partnerships. Specifically, the associate director oversee the Rochester Urban Fellows program, the Rochester Youth Year Fellowship program, Wilson Days of Engagement, Learning and Exploring at Play (LEAP); and Transition Opportunities at the University of Rochester (TOUR). The associate director will supervise full-time staff, AmeriCorps VISTA members, graduate and undergraduate student employees as needed to implement programs, seeking to empower students to take leadership roles whenever possible. The associate director will work closely with other members of the Center, the Office of the Dean of Students, and the College, and will assist with office-wide initiatives when necessary. The associate director will report to the director of the Center and will coordinate closely with the director and other professional staff to ensure that the programs and partnerships contribute to the overall mission, goals, and learning outcomes of the Center. The associate director will also advise and consult with the director in establishing the strategic direction for the Center and will represent the Center to other internal and external stakeholders in the absence of the director.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Required 5-8 years of related experience working with college undergraduate students and/or with community development programming and partnerships, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
