Business Systems Analyst (Senior)

Job DescriptionThe Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) acts in a product ownership and analyst role, providing the key interface between management and end users on one side, and BC's internal IT development partners and vendors on the other. Working within a development and maintenance process which follows Scaled Agile (scrum practices), the Sr. BSA is responsible for the research and analysis of issues and identification and implementation of improvements across a host of student-facing administrative systems, including academics (course scheduling, management, registration, enrollment and transcripts, etc.), admissions, student accounts and financial aid functions. Responsible for requirements gathering, user support and training, testing and roll out of new product features and fixes.
Exceptionally strong BA skills are a must; candidates familiar with higher education (and particularly student services and/or admissions areas) will be given preference. A significant and specific set of responsibilities for this position includes: troubleshooting application and database production issues and managing our production support process. Additionally becoming an expert at our Student Information System (EagleApps) from a systems administration/configuration management perspective will be a critical area of responsibility in this position.
While we are seeking a senior candidate with at least 5 to 7 years of experience as a business systems analyst, we will consider strong candidates with less experience:

Associate BSA:2 to 3 years of related business systems analysis experience; $59,560 - $74,450
BSA:3 to 5 years of related business systems analysis experience; $69,080 - $86,350
Senior BSA:Minimum of 5 to 7 years of related business systems analysis and/or project management experience, $78,120 - $97,650
Requirements
Key requirements for the position include:
Bachelor's degree required for all levels.
Ability to facilitate and perform fit gap analysis, determine solution/approach and document results with cross functional teams.
Ability to create complex rules, execute systems activities, and act in an ongoing support capacity, troubleshoot, debug and resolve production issues.
Experience working in an agile development environment required, preferably in a coaching role. Experience implementing and/or teaching agile methodology and scrum practices is a plus.
Excellent planning and oversight skills to ensure that functional and technical tasks are assigned, monitored and completed.
Effective communications, relationship building and training skills to ensure that end users, technical staff and vendors are up-to-date on system capabilities, enhancements and release plans.
Strong leadership skills and the aptitude and interest to mentor other team members.
Ability to work independently to identify risks, gaps and resolve issues in order to keep project activities on track.
Expertise in business process analysis and management. Ability to provide guidance about the business implications of applying various systems changes.
Skilled in the definition and formulation of systems scope and objectives based on user needs and an in-depth understanding of business systems and industry requirements.
Ability to elicit, document and communicate user and systems requirements via user stories, functional and systems specifications, use cases, process flows, data diagrams, etc.
Product management/owner mindset - ability to advocate for features and functions critical for end users and overall product offering. Ability to effectively communicate, prioritize and conduct overall product backlog grooming sessions in collaboration with team members.
Ability to create, maintain and execute a variety of test documents and corresponding activities including: functional, end to end and user acceptance test plans, test scenarios and test cases.
Proficient in MS Office applications; experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence preferred.
Preferred/Desired
Prior higher education experience; Student Services or Admissions System experience most preferred.
Detailed working knowledge of enrollment, financial aid, admissions, student account and degree audit processes and best practices.
