Work Schedule: Tradionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm
Salary: Targeted salary range: $33,760-$36,300
Travel: No travel

Brief Statement of Duties
Responsible for managing the content of NMU’s public-facing website to ensure the University’s brand is applied in an engaging and informative way. The position will be part of a team that provides ongoing support for the University’s enterprise content management system. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of website content and craft that content in a manner optimized for search engines and the University’s diverse web audience. Work closely with university departments to create and maintain landing pages, departmental websites, and specialized microsites. Work to ensure the accessibility of the university’s website.

Required Minimum Work Experience: Experience creating content for the web.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
  • Basic knowledge of search engine optimization.
  • Basic knowledge of website accessibility.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Competent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working on multiple projects at the same time and the ability to prioritize and manage those projects to completion.
  • Experience working as part of a team to solve complex problems.
  • Responsible for meeting deadlines with high-quality deliverables.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or closely related field.
  • Experience with search engine optimization based on search and analytic data.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility testing and experience using accessibility testing tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve coding issues.
  • Experience working with Drupal and/or other content management systems.
  • Knowledge of usability/user experience best practices.
  • Experience writing and editing content for the web.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and strategies.
  • Experience with website analytics.
  • Experience with Photoshop or other image editing software as well as optimization and compression techniques.
  • Technical understanding and ability to collaborate with IT staff on application development, testing, and feedback.
  • Experience working in Higher Education.
