Job Description

This position provides fiscal support for the faculty in the Department of Biochemistry. Duties include, but are not limited to, placing and receiving orders using HokieMart, research and keep encumbrance reporting up to date for the department, assisting in preparation of monthly reports to faculty and assist with reconciliation of department p-cards. Filing when needed.

Required Qualifications

Experience using large enterprise wide data bases in areas of finance and purchasing such as HokieMart, Pcard purchasing procedures, and Banner; Strong computer skills with word processing and spreadsheet software; Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting activities demonstrating the ability to manage departmental accounts; Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills; Familiarity of university and state administrative policies and procedures; Experience working with faculty and a diverse group of people in a collaborative work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite demonstrating proficiency with Word and Excel; Experience in financial reporting and management of multiple accounts.
