GENERAL PURPOSE:

Faculty Information System (FIS) Manager will be a key team member during the implementation and ongoing maintenance/support of the new FIS. Responsibilities include developing a thorough understanding of faculty policies and processes; working with the vendor, UR IT, and various UR offices to configure and implement the FIS to reflect current practices; and supporting faculty and staff from around the university as they interact with the new FIS.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in implementing the new FIS according to current policies. Recommend new policies related to the FIS. Work with stakeholders across the university (including deans of schools, unit heads, subject matter experts, etc.) to understand data and workflows related to faculty.

Manage faculty data in FIS. Work with stakeholders to understand, develop, maintain, and document procedures related to the faculty lifecycle in the FIS. Format and import data from other campus information systems and repositories, modify the configuration of the application in response to changing campus needs, create report templates, generate data reports, and conduct troubleshooting.

Support faculty and staff using the FIS. Refer technical questions to correct service provider including University IT and the vendor. Develop communication mechanisms to train faculty and staff. Create, conduct, disseminate, and assess training workshops and materials. Maintain excellent relationships with users and service providers.

Serve as one of the data stewards for faculty data. Make recommendations on data definitions. Serve on committees related to data stewardship. Review requests for faculty data and make recommendations on data procedures. Document standards and decision-making processes.

Assist and cross train on other faculty affairs tasks such as handling requests to/from UR schools and the Board of Trustees, supporting faculty events and workflows, updating processes and materials, benchmarking and assessing best practices, etc. Work effectively and efficiently as a member of the Provost’s Office and Academic Affairs teams. Handle confidential materials and information appropriately.

Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree is desirable, and 4-5 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Higher Education, knowledge of faculty life cycle, project management, change management, or training development preferred. Requires excellent listening, communication, negotiation skills and a commitment to maintaining an inclusive and equitable workplace.
