This is a full-time, unclassified, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the "NL" category of employment (non-fixed work week) and have no claim or entitlement to time off or cash compensation for hours worked beyond their normal schedule. However, unusual requirements for additional work time by these employees may be compensated by allowing roughly comparable amounts of time off, provided prior approval is given by the supervisor and Unit Head.

Starting Salary - $57,573.92 - $63,335.98

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the Analyst will join a team of professionals that are committed to developing, implementing, and assessing data resources in order to foster an institutional culture of collaborative, data-informed decision making. The mission of the Office of Institutional Research (IR) is to support decision-making and accountability, by providing accurate and timely data, for accreditation and planning, for state and federal compliance, for continuous improvement and effectiveness, and to advance the public profile of the college.

The Analyst performs professional functions using established policies, procedures, computational methods, and guidelines relating to survey instrumentation, assessment, data processing, and reporting. The Analyst supports College-wide compliance in data reporting and assessment and actively works to foster an institutional culture of collaborative and data-informed decision-making.

Further, the Analyst executes the survey research agenda, collects and provides information for various institutional reports, develops and runs reports, and assists with personnel and program evaluations

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect, evaluate, and prepare tools, and reports
  • Collect, interpret, analyze, prepare, and present research and other complex quantitative and qualitative data, and provide technical expertise to support the Office of Institutional Research, the Executive Core, and other institutional partners, as needed
  • Assist in entering, verifying, and pulling assessment and related data accurately and completely in/from a range of systems and databases
  • Generate compelling and accessible reports and files from various institutional systems and databases
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and concerns through data analysis
  • Collaborate frequently across the College's six Cores with faculty, staff, and administrators to build relationships, facilitate communication, promote awareness of data resources, and ensure accurate and timely data collection
  • Deliver and engage in appropriate training to enhance data integrity, collection, accuracy, and management
  • Coordinate faculty evaluations with various constituencies by ensuring the availability of modernized processes and resources, collecting completed forms, running standardized statistical reports, providing results, and routinely advancing suggestions for continuous improvement to the process
  • Maintain GRE Database and create a database for analysis
  • Assist with data entry in the Program Review data template for convening groups, ensuring accuracy of the data and final reports
  • Contribute to and follow the IR Survey Research agenda for timely data collection, and conduct data analysis, and draft top sheet reports and narratives; Coordinate with various areas to ensure the smooth and effective administration of various institutional surveys, to determine the need for new surveys, and to make recommendations for the discontinuation of surveys or redundant or outdated practices
  • Assist in setting baseline data, developing metrics, and determining outcomes, as needed
  • Identify information needs by anticipating questions through the review of data, information, and research studies and actively support the accuracy of IR reports including but not limited to the College Fact Book and Fact Sheets
  • Contribute to the routine updating of various IR processes and reports including but not limited to grade distribution reports
  • Prepare clear and effective reports and presentations using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Microsoft Power BI)
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of evidence collected to support institutional accreditation.
  • Exercise independent judgment when addressing moderate inquiries and problem solving on behalf of colleagues, students, and friends of the College; Consult with the supervisor concerning troubling issues and make recommendations for resolution
  • Support the development and currency of content for web and other platforms as needed
  • Actively support, attend, and/or participate in the successful preparation and delivery of College-wide and special events
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the higher-education environment and familiarity with assessment and institutional research preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with individuals at various levels of the institution (faculty, staff, and administrators)
  • Command of appropriate computer software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, SPSS, Microsoft Word, PowerBI, Tableau, SPOL, Banner)
  • Detail oriented with ability to input data accurately and efficiently and to advance work products that are accurate, compelling, cogent, and helpful

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Master's preferred, in social science or education-

related field with coursework in statistics and research methods.

Experience

  • 2-3 years' work experience in an academic or research environment with assigned responsibilities in the areas of research, assessment, and/or data science.
  • Experience in the collection, compilation, preparation, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Experience extracting and evaluating data from multiple sources using query/reporting tools
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within general direction and guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
