Position Highlights

The Department of Medical Imaging has a temporary, part-time Research Technologist III position open in the lab of Lars Furenlid, PhD. This position will assist the principal investigator of an NIH-funded grant to complete the technical tasks in the development of the instrument named AdaptiSPECT-C. This is a part-time ancillary position that ends 6/30/23.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the research work of surface-mount-component placement and soldering tools present in our laboratories to populate and electrically test custom printed circuit boards required in the instrument.
  • Perform and calibrate specialized light machining and fabrication tasks needed for the mounting of electronics in suitable enclosures.
  • Oversee the creation and routing of needed wiring harnesses to bring signals and power to and from said enclosures.
  • Manage the large inventory of parts associated with this project, and provide parts lists of items that need replenishment to the principal investigator.
  • Operate light machining and mechanical assembly for the structural components of the instrument as needed.
  • Document the instrument assembly process, recording torque values applied to fasteners, results of gap measurements with feeler gauges, and other important measures of quality assurance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience is required.
