is accepting applications for the following position:

Network Analyst

The Network Analyst will provide support for academic and administrative networks and servers. Ensure the availability of computer networks including network devices, communication links, telephone systems, and servers. Implement processes and procedures for ongoing management and security of the network and server environments. The position will also assist with analyzing and resolving end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure network connectivity of all workstations, servers, telephones, printers, and other devices.
  • Monitor and analyze networks and servers including routers, switches, wireless access points, and circuits to catch trends or changes that impact network or application performance.
  • Occasional cable and wiring install and repair to support network and telephone connectivity.
  • Manage and monitor security solutions including firewalls, load balancers, anti-malware, IDS/IPS, VPN, and log management systems.
  • Maintain network services such as IP address assignment and resolution (DNS and DHCP), enterprise directory services, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Install, maintain, configure, and repair network, telephone, and related equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure and configuration.
  • Assist with the creation of policies and procedures relating to network infrastructure.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, contractors, and others to secure applicable products and services including maintenance and support agreements.
  • Utilize service desk to identify network, telephone, and related issues; prioritize and respond to tickets as appropriate.
  • Provide technical assistance to the PC Support team and assist with end user support as needed.
  • Provide assistance to users with server and network problems or specifications.
  • Plan and implement network equipment and telephone upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches utilizing standard outage windows.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of datacenter hardware and software systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant industry best practices, laws, regulations, and policies through ongoing professional development.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree and four (4) years of current experience in network and server administration or a related area;OR, Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of like experience required.
  • Appropriate certification(s) preferred.
  • Any additional requirements presently and in the future mandated by law or regulation, or by the Tennessee Board of Regents, appropriate accrediting agencies and other approved authorities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Commitment to continuously support the mission, vision, and values for Cleveland State Community College, upholding the highest standards of customer service in fostering a quality learning environment.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and standards, such as Cisco routers and switches, and Aruba wireless access systems.
  • Working technical knowledge of both desktop and server operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Windows Server, including virtualization, Microsoft Active Directory, and related services.
  • Demonstrated experience with current network hardware, protocols, and standards, such as Cisco routers and switches, and Aruba wireless access systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving networks, telephone systems, communication links, servers, and related resources.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Good understanding of the college’s goals and objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external constituencies.
  • Ability to transport weights up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
  • Ability to travel to remote sites.

Job Location:

The primary job location is the college's main campus in Cleveland, Tennessee.

The College: Cleveland State Community College is a fully-accredited public comprehensive community college committed to quality education and open access. The college operates within the governance of the Tennessee Board of Regents and approved by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
CSCC celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017. Its mission focuses upon responsive delivery of the highest quality education and training at the lowest possible cost in support of workforce development, liberal arts transfer and cultural enrichment for the people of Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe and Polk Counties.

The college enrolls more than 3,000 credit students and 1,500 non-credit students in a typical fall semester. The credit student population is split about evenly in the choice of transfer or career-technical programs. The average age of all students is 28 years. All persons are welcome at Cleveland State, and the student population is nonracially identifiable.

There are over 200 employees at the college, including more than 75 full-time faculty members. Ninety-one percent of the faculty hold master's or doctor's degrees.

Situated in the scenic corridor of hills and valleys of southeast Tennessee, Cleveland State presents an attractive atmosphere in which to enjoy varied facets of an educational experience. The community offers an abundance of service facilities and recreational opportunities. The college is located between Exits 25 and 27 on Interstate 75, thirty miles northeast of Chattanooga.

The 105-acre campus has 11 major buildings housing modern classrooms, laboratories and student activity centers. Additional features include an excellent library, a multimedia production studio, dynamic classrooms, computer laboratories, a 400-seat theatre, a 3,000-seat gymnasium, athletic fields, a small business development center, a workforce readiness center, and a full-service student center with cafeteria, bookstore and student lounge areas. In addition, the college recently opened the new state-of-the-art Health and Science Center, the first new academic building for the college in over 46 years. The college also maintains off-site locations to serve students in the northern service area. The college offers a wide selection of credit and non-credit courses at the new McMinn Higher Education Center in Athens and at the Monroe County Center in Vonore.
