The Wisconsin Training Registries department of the Continuing Education and Community Engagement division is looking to hire two Program Specialist, one in an ongoing role and one in a temporary role. These positions report to the Director of the Wisconsin Training Registries and deliver and assist with planning outreach program activities, curriculum development, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.

This position will primarily be responsible for working in collaboration with the Wisconsin Training Registries Director to implement the initiatives of the Wisconsin Training Registries by assisting with operating goals, objectives, and protocols. This position is responsible for relating a high level of assisted living knowledge to constituents, associations, and organizations regarding the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. The individual will serve as a liaison with internal and external constituencies on matters assigned by the Wisconsin Training Registries Director. Audiences will include assisted living facilities, community-based residential facilities, home and community-based services, adult protective services and staff, among others.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program.
  • Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program.
  • Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members.
  • Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials.
  • Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and community volunteers.
  • Evaluate and analyze data from the Wisconsin Training Registry, provide trending data to DHS.


  • Experience in the areas of assisted living facilities, community-based residential facilities, home and community-based services, adult protective services, among others
  • Working knowledge of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services regulations
  • Experience in curriculum writing and professional development
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, self-prioritize, and remain flexible to shifting priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Must demonstrate consistency and accountability for assigned projects and responsibilities
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in all aspects of the job
  • Ability to work effectively as a team and independently in a high-volume work setting
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment with multiple stakeholder groups


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Working knowledge of established guidelines in developing additional training procedures and documentation as needed to satisfy the requirements of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
  • Experience with program and data evaluation and process improvement
  • Experience in working with adult learners

Ongoing position is a full-time Academic Staff appointment. This position may work fully remote subject to approved telecommuting request. Temporary position is a 6-month, full-time, Academic Staff appointment. There is a possibility for an extension of this appointment for up to another 6 months. This position may work fully remote subject to approved telecommuting request. Hours worked for this position will be between 7:45am - 4:30pm. Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Ongoing position would be eligible for the UW Systemprovided excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually.
