The College of Saint Rose announces a national search for a Director of Counseling and Health Services. This position serves as the Clinical Director of the Counseling Center and is responsible for leadership and oversight of the Counseling Center and Health Services departments, with the goal to ensure consistent, quality care and wellness education for students. The Director provides counseling, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and educational programming to Saint Rose students and offers clinical supervision and direction to professional Counseling staff and interns. This position oversees all aspects of the Counseling Center and Health Services department administration, including staffing, budget management and compliance with appropriate laws and regulations. The Director reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Development.

The Counseling Center and Health Services departments seek to promote physical and psychological health and wellness and help students remove obstacles to academic success. The Counseling Center provides short term individual, group, couples and family counseling. The Center also prepares mental health professionals for employment in the greater community. The Health Services provides health care services such as evaluation and treatment for illness, first aid for non-life threatening injuries, assistance with visits to specialist and personal health education.


The College seeks an accomplished mental health professional who will offer leadership, strong management skills and commitment to excellence. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

1. Doctorate in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, or a closely related field.

2. Licensed as a psychologist in the state of New York or currently licensed in another state and eligible to attain New York licensure prior to starting employment.

3. At least three years of management-level experience in the areas of health or mental health practice and administration.

4. Postdoctoral experience providing mental health counseling.

5. Professional experience providing clinical counseling supervision.

6. Proven history of quality service working with underrepresented populations.

7. Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing employees with commitment to diversity, teamwork and service excellence.

8. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of diverse constituents, including students, parents, faculty, staff, and senior management.

9. Intermediate level computer skills using MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook

10. Ability to work evenings and weekends as part of the on-call rotation and on an emergency basis

This is a 11-month position (June or July off). Full time, Monday-Friday work schedule. This position participates in an on-call rotation and must be available to assist with any emergency response that could occur during evenings or weekends.
