The Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications (ALEC) program prepares students for careers that help develop people, organizations and communities to solve real-world problems. Position:

The Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications (ALEC) Program is seeking a Teaching Assistant Professor in agricultural communications. This non-tenure track faculty position is provided on a 12-month basis. This Teaching Assistant Professor will be primarily responsible for providing instruction in courses focused on agricultural communications, as well as prospective student outreach and student engagement in the ALEC graduate program.

January 2, 2023 or as soon as possible after close of search
Qualifications:

Required:
  • An earned PhD or EdD in the field of agricultural communications, agricultural education, or a closely related field. Candidates who are ABD will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated excellence in the instruction of agricultural communications in higher education contexts.
Preferred:
  • The candidate should have the ability to develop undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural communications using innovative teaching methods.
  • The candidate should have expertise in digital communications platforms and be able teach in this area.
  • The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills in a variety of professional contexts.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in agricultural communications and related interdisciplinary courses.
  • Advise students in the agricultural communications concentration in the ALEC program.
  • Collaborate with College of ACES recruitment coordinators to promote Agricultural Communications to prospective students.
  • Provide service to the ALEC program, the College of ACES, and the University of Illinois in support of the land-grant mission generally, and more specifically in regard to student outreach in Agricultural Communications.
Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
