Leads group fitness classes to members and visitors. Plans engaging routines, music and safe movements to balance health improvement. Delivers exceptional customer service while providing ongoing observation and interpersonal feedback during class participation.
Conducts assigned group fitness classes per established guidelines
Instructs on techniques to maintain exertion levels with a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and fitness levels
Accommodates different levels of fitness by offering alternative movements and proper breathing techniques
Maintains class attendance records
Ensures exercise equipment is safe, clean and in proper working order
Greets members and guests as they enter group fitness room
Responds to member and guest suggestions, concerns and complaints in a timely manner
High School diploma or equivalent
Other Required Qualifications
Current Group Exercise Instructor certification from ACE, AFAA or other nationally accredited specialty class certification required Current Adult CPR and AED certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross are required (online courses will not be accepted)
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Current knowledge and experience in teaching various aerobic/fitness classes is preferred
Previous group exercise instruction experience strongly preferred

Complies with group fitness policies and procedures Able to display passion for member results Able to be dependable in teaching assigned classes on time and take ownership for covering classes when absent Able to remain flexible in response to changing scheduling needs Able to participate in Continuing Education Credits (CEC) Ability to teach fitness classes such as Yoga, Zumba, Step, Aerobics, Pilates, Barre, Spinning, Boot Camp and others assigned or adopted by the center Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
Remains abreast and/or updated on industry trends and best practices
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite) Strong attention to detail and follow up skills Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
