Job Summary
Serve as the program administrator for the Master of Science in Financial Engineering (MSFE) program, the Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program, and the Finance PhD program. Develop and oversee processes for monitoring, assessing, reporting and improving student learning outcomes that can be implemented across Finance graduate degree programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Program Administration and Operations
  • Work with faculty and advisory committees to create curricular and course changes.
  • Assist with evaluation of policies and compliance, especially those relating to the Grad College and the Gies College of Business.
  • Prepare an annual budget for operations of the program, including requests for spending needed to enhance the program's effectiveness. Coordinate with the Director of Administration to ensure budgets are accurate and timely, and income and expenditures conform with the budget. Reconcile program expenses per FIN graduate programs budgets.
  • Work with FIN department scheduler and faculty to maintain consistent class schedule.
  • Serve as a resource and provide expertise to other departmental staff and student workers related to graduate programs.
Student Services
  • Support students throughout the entire length of the programs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with such things as, processing petitions, add/drop requests, evaluating and assessing students' progress, and providing academic advising services.
  • Provide guidance to students in selecting relevant elective courses based on long-term career goals.
  • Facilitate student onboarding and orientation for incoming students.
  • Organize qualifying exam process (written & oral)
  • Assist in developing and conducting outcome assessments, including ICES, which provides student feedback on FIN classes, program initiatives, workshops and overall satisfaction regarding the program.
  • Proactively evaluate the pending degree list, ensuring the students are meeting all Grad College graduation requirements.
  • Process CPT and OPT requests from international students.
  • Work with Business Career Services to develop and implement a placement strategy for graduates of the programs. Engage with Business Career Services staff to provide services in support of students' job- seeking activities.
Student Activities and Events
  • Supervise the execution of student services activities and events, including workshops, guest speakers, and all other internal and external events.
  • Organize and accompany students to any field trips.
  • Support all aspects of "day of" program events, including acting as the point person for the event.
Other duties to support the FIN graduate programs
  • Reporting: Run reports and analyze date related to admissions, program activities and outcome assessments.
  • Marketing & Outreach:
    • Identify opportunities to promote the FIN graduate programs through the departmental e-newsletter and annual report.
    • Work with Gies College Marketing and Communications staff to develop effective global marketing and communications efforts to attract potential students and recruitment officers.
    • Engage with faculty and staff in the Department and College as needed to enhance effectiveness and reputation of the programs.
  • Supervise office support assigned to the graduate programs, including assigning tasks and providing feedback.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Two years of experience in graduate programs, student affairs, higher education, or other relevant area applicable to this position.
      • Experience supervising professional staff
      • Experience managing a budget
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Ability to problem-solve with ambiguous situations, ability to handle multiple tasks under time constraints with constant interruptions is essential. Accuracy and attention to detail are necessary.
    • Ability to understand international rules and customs and deal with situations effectively. Ability to provide excellent "customer service" in all circumstances.
    • Familiarity with Gies College of Business graduate programs.
      • Knowledge of Graduate College policy and departmental program requirements

    • Ability to develop and manage budgets in accordance with established guidelines.

    Appointment Information

    This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after September 30, 2022. Salary is commensurate with experience.
