Job Summary
Work closely with the Academic Affairs team to advise, support, and develop programming for students success initiatives. To review academic standing, identify students that are in potential academic risk and support them to academic success.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Academic Success Processes and Programs
    - Develop and implement strategic initiatives to support the success and retention of Gies College of Business students.
    - Manage the re-entry petition review process; work closely with College and University stakeholders on advising and managing transitions for re-admitted students.
    - Develop and lead strategic initiatives to support re-entry students in collaboration with Gies professional advising team.
    - Provide consultation to the Director and Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs for Gies students petitioning for a 10th semester continuation, late course drop, withdrawal from the university, and incomplete course work.
    - Lead the Gies undergraduate Drop and Probation process and oversee the review committee; provide guidance and support to dropped and probation status students
    - Oversee the programming and guidance of resources to Gies probation students on campus at all academic levels
    - Analyze probation student academic and educational success to foster persistence.
    - Develop and lead Gies Course Outreach Intervention Program, in collaboration with Gies Faculty participating in the program.
    - Collaborate with College and University stakeholders to provide support for student outreach, student concerns, and policy development.
    - Oversight of the Success Lab
    - Oversee the Gies Summer Program
    - Represent Gies on campus level committees such as assigned
    - Oversee budget of Student Success programs
  • Academic Advising
    - Provide advising to Gies students that are on academic probation, having social and academic difficulties, and other students as referred.
    - Meet with Gies students, in tandem with an academic advisor, that have been put on the Probation/Drop list to support and create a plan to help these students reach their academic goals.
    - Support Academic Advising initiatives such as New Student Registration, Spring Semester Registration Programs, Major Course Planning, and Graduation Planning as appropriate
  • Supervision
    - Supervises the Coordinator of Student Academic Success
    - Oversight of the supervision of Student Success Lab workers



  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education: Master's degree Experience: 3 years experience working within Higher Education

    Preferred Qualifications
    Education:
    Master's degree in Higher Education or related field
    Experience:
    Experience working directly with undergraduate students in higher education academic planning, particularly with students categorized as high risk. Experience with academic advising, course planning, and/or course selection. Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate student education and ability to respond to undergraduate students' needs and concerns. Exceptional communication skills, strong organizational and planning skills, and the ability to build relationships and collaborate with colleagues within and outside of the unit.

    Appointment Information
    This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after October 3, 2022. Salary is commensurate with experience.
