Job Summary

The Department of Biology at Xavier University of Louisiana invites applicants for a full-time one-year visiting assistant professor position beginning August 2021. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field focused on Biodiversity.

The successful applicant will teach four classes per semester at the undergraduate level and be committed to working with students from diverse backgrounds. The ability and willingness to work collegially with a 4-4 teaching load are essential. The ideal applicant should have the ability to teach face-to-face as well as online classes and have a willingness to contribute to the growth and recruitment of the undergraduate Biology programs.

The Department of Biology offers all levels of instruction for undergraduates and offers minors, majors, and concentrations. The Department also offers mentored research opportunities for undergraduate students in a range of disciplines. The department is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, minimizing barriers, and increasing equity and completion rates between members of different demographic groups.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biology, Zoology, or related field;
  • Strong commitment to teaching twelve semester hours per semester;
  • Demonstrated a strong potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
