Position Announcement

Responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of comprehensive services (e.g. note taking, exam accommodations, providing direct accommodations, etc.) for students with disabilities. Primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Fair Housing Act. Provide day-to-day management of the front office, corresponding with current and prospective students with disabilities, securing student confidential records, and coordinating hiring, training and processing of payroll paperwork for office work-study and note-taking assistants.   • Provide university-wide direct coordination of accommodation services for qualified students with disabilities, including note-taking, exam accommodations, disability awareness events, and assist in the university's efforts to ensure all programs and services are accessible. Hire, train and supervise work-study students and day-to-day management of the front office and correspondence with current and prospective students with disabilities. 
  • Collect and keep a record of all new applications and required documentation from students seeking accommodations. Assist the director in communicating with students, faculty, and parents/guardians to ensure reasonable accommodations are implemented. 
  • Monitor and track retention rates of students with disabilities. Monitor compliance with ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Continually review federal and state regulations that govern the provision of disability services to students. 
  • Assist with training faculty and staff in developing reasonable approaches to accommodating the needs of disabled students. Assist with accessible text/audiobook production for students with disabilities. Promote and organize Disability Awareness on campus. 
  • Work (and/or coordinate with part-time employees) a flexible schedule for the center, including the possibility of extended hours, to accommodate student needs. Ensure the center operates efficiently and effectively for students requesting accommodation, within defined parameters established with the director. 
  • Maintain functionality of office by ordering office supplies, submitting various IT and Facilities work orders for office upkeep and computers, etc. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required. 
  • At least three years' related experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or requesting accommodation required; experience working with post-secondary students and families with disabilities preferred. 
  • Familiarity with American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. 
  • Previous administrative work experience with knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to learn and use institutional software, systems, policies, and procedures. 
  • Office experience required. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  • Strong human relations skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with students, parents, and other stakeholders.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff position (overtime-exempt, working 40 hours per week, 12 months per year). Annual salary of $40,000 - $42,000 depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of November 2022.
