Description of the Department or Unit
The Department of Human Development & Psychological Counseling (HPC) provides instructional programs that prepare students for positions in K-12 schools, colleges/universities, and mental health agencies. The department offers courses of instruction leading to a Master of Arts degree in four areas: Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Professional School Counseling (both CACREP-accredited), Student Affairs Administration, and Marriage and Family Therapy. - Teach a 3:3 course load on campus (with expectations for teaching core and specialty area counseling courses and supervising practicum and internship students). Summer teaching is available.
- Advise and mentor students in the PSC program.
- Engage in research and scholarly activities relevant to counseling.
- Engage in service to the program, department, institution, and counseling profession.
- Be open to fulfilling a program leadership role in the future.
