Administrative Assistant Job Description


The Administrative Assistant for the Institute for Land
& Housing Property Rights at Boston College will report to the Robert F.
Drinan, S.J. Endowed Chair at Boston College Law School, who serves as the
Director of the Initiative and in 2020 was named a Fellow of the John D. &
Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The
Institute's work and research primarily addresses real property issues that
impact poor and disadvantaged communities, many of which are rural. The Institute challenges age-old property
laws that are widely considered impossible to reform and hopes to inspires
others to engage in law and policy work to address other injustices.

Responsibilities include but are limited to:

General

  • General
    reception (phone and walk-in)
  • Attend
    staff meetings
  • Help
    manage incoming communications, including but not limited to email,
    physical mail, telephone, social media
  • Organize
    and maintain office, including filing system
  • Maintain
    the schedule of the Institutes's Director
  • Schedule
    various events that the Institutes sponsors, including logistics, travel
    matters, reimbursements, etc.
  • Advertise
    Institute events
  • Help
    with travel-related matters for Institute personnel
  • Proofread
    and process various documents
  • Prepare
    various law school, university, fundraising, and other reports

Database and Online Management

  • Create various data bases,
    property/real estate-related and others
  • Develop and maintain
    various mailing lists
  • Manage Intitute's
    website using Adobe Experience Manager
  • Manage Intitute's social
    media presence

Budgetary Responsibilities

  • Submit reimbursements
  • Manage grants and other
    funding sources
  • Monitor the budget and
    advise on related matters

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $42,350 to $52,950; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Higher education
    experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Sophisticated
    word-processing skills
  • Strong written and oral
    communication skills
  • Working knowledge of
    office technology systems and applications, including Microsoft and Google
    Suites and database management tools
  • Ability to produce large
    projects and maintain schedules
