Job Description:

The Senior Technology Support Specialist is directly responsible for providing technology support to members of the F&M community. This includes operating system, application software & systems, desktop management tools, back-up and networking support, as well as preventative maintenance for equipment belonging to the College. The STSS also assists in the use of the College's computing facilities and other technology resources. The STSS is expected to take a leadership role in proactively assuring that components of the Technology Support Services portfolio are meeting the needs of F&M and maximizing the utilization of available resources. The STSS will be a recognized expert in all aspects of technology solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify, develop and maintain desktop and other product management tools that are capable of imaging, updating and monitoring Macintosh & Windows computers as well as other TSS related products, leveraging all available automation capabilities.
  • Set up and deliver computing equipment and peripherals. ? As appropriate, automate initial provisioning of new desktop systems and campus-wide roll-outs of site license software to include backup solutions.
  • Instructs clients in the use of technology equipment; evaluate and recommend audio and video solutions.
  • Monitor the status of tickets in the software system, and work with the ITS Directors to ensure that customer requests are being resolved in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development of documentation to support end-users.
  • Maintain current knowledge of operating systems, application software, industry trends and standards in order to assist end-users.
  • Provide first level computer technical support and follow ITS processes and procedures. Visit offices to address workstation issues that cannot be resolved by the first tier Technology Support Specialists.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree required
  • Supervises student workers: hiring, disciplinary action, staffing assignments, and scheduling
  • Minimum of 4-5 years experience in tech support, with experience in desktop management tools (Jamf, KACE, Code 42)
  • Advanced experience with Google Suite, Google Apps for Education required
  • Advanced experience with Webhelperdesk, Crashplan, Kace, JAMF preferred
  • Advanced experience working with Macintosh and Windows hardware required
  • The ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.

Additional Information:
