Lecturer - Urban Horticulture & Design (Cannabis Management)

Farmingdale State College seeks to hire a full-time lecturer (10 months) for the Cannabis Production and Management curriculum. This interdisciplinary program is housed in the Department of Urban Horticulture and Design but includes curriculum from the departments of Business Management, Criminal Justice Studies, Economics, Nutrition Science and Wellness, and Urban Horticulture. This appointment includes a teaching obligation in one of the fields that encompass the Cannabis Production and Management curriculum and will also serve as the Program Coordinator. The selected applicant will work closely with college personnel and representatives of the local Cannabis industry to build a program that responds dynamically to the needs of students, graduates, and employers. Related service activities will include curriculum design, student recruitment and advisement, and interface with external interest groups. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are imperative.

Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree (MS, MA, MBA or its equivalent awarded by August 31, 2023) or higher from a regionally accredited university in one of the fields encompassing the Cannabis Certificate curriculum (Horticulture, Business, Economics, Health related field).
  • One year of experience in the cannabis field either through academic study or industry related work experience.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College level teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach online courses.
  • Broad-based knowledge and experience with the cannabis industry.

Additional Information:

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, September 16, 2022 and ending Thursday, September 29, 2022, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
