Position Summary

The Assistant Dean of Admissions provides leadership and strategic direction for a team whose mission is to attract and enroll the most talented, motivated, and diverse student body possible. The Assistant Dean of Admissions is responsible for administering a comprehensive admissions program for a law school known for its commitment to a student-centered approach to legal education. Key components of the position include annual enrollment forecasting, scholarship and pricing strategies and administration, admissions marketing and recruitment, and the evaluation of applications. The Assistant Dean works closely with executive leadership to develop and implement these strategies. The Assistant Dean of Admissions reports to the law school Dean of Students and supervises 1-2 FTE.

Minimum Requirements

  •  JD from an ABA accredited law school or relevant master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Four years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, or relevant professional experience.

  • Experience with enrollment marketing outreach (ex: public relations, advertising, social media, the Web).
  • Data analytic skills with experience using databases/applicant tracking systems.
  • Strong supervisory, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Excellent judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to inspire and work effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to conceive and execute a strategic vision for J.D. admissions.
  • Ability to travel overnight or for a week (including weekends) without restriction by airplane, train, bus, and car, as a licensed driver, able to rent a vehicle without restriction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant professional experience in law school admissions at a strategic planning level which includes data analysis, scholarship policy generation, and development of enrollment communications.
  • Proficiency with ACES or UNITE database management systems.* Knowledge of trends in legal education and law student recruitment.
