Position Highlights

The Business and Academic Support Services team in the School of International Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SILLC) supports 6 academic units, the Center for Educational Resources in Culture, Language and Literacy (CERCLL), the Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS), both centers are Title VI Language Resource Centers in the College of Humanities. The highly regarded SILLC Team provides high quality and efficient support to the faculty, students, and customers - both internal and external - of SILLC while remaining fiscally and ethically responsible. As part of this team, the Financial Coordinator position will be one of four individuals working in accounting/finance to support the departments and centers under SILLC. The Financial Coordinator position will support Accounts Payable transactions, Deposits, Travel Authorizations, UA and UA Foundation Accounts reconciling, internal and external grants, and ad hoc Financial Reporting, among other duties. This position reports to the Manager of Business and Finance and is an in-person position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Initiate accounts payable transactions such as check requests, travel expense reimbursement requests, interdepartmental billings, managing communication with faculty to obtain all receipts and paperwork with appropriate business purpose
  • Reconcile transactions to include: UA Pcard, UA accounts and UA Foundation accounts
  • Assist with internal and external grants
  • Train and supervise student worker to prepare and file financial related documents
  • Initiate accounts receivable transactions including depositing cash or check by initiating cash receipt transactions
  • Initiate Travel Authorizations, ensuring faculty requests are in compliance and submitted in advance of travel
  • Keep informed of institutional and external policies and procedures that are relevant to job duties
  • Recommend business process improvements
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Work efficiently and effectively both independently and as part of a team

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Very organized and proactive in meeting deadlines
  • Experience and interest in working with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students
  • Ability and interest in learning new software
  • Skilled in researching policy/procedures to solve problems/support faculty

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Microsoft Office, including Outlook (email and calendar), Word, Excel and other MS offices suite products.
  • Experience in Higher Ed
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with Box, Google and other cloud-based software
  • Experience in working with multi-cultural and diverse faculty, staff and/or students.
