Director of the Tichenor-Greer (TG) Scholars Program

The Tichenor-Greer Scholars Program provides academic and financial support to eligible students of color who are economically and educationally disadvantaged and who major in STEM subjects. The Director is responsible for recruiting and mentoring Tichenor-Greer Scholars at Chestnut Hill College; coordinating the design and implementation of programs to help students succeed and persist in a STEM major, and promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and college access in the region.

  • Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated record of administrative, recruiting, teaching, mentoring, and tutorial experience;
  • Working with educationally and economically disadvantaged students and knowledge of or experience with programs such as ACT 101, TRiO SSS, TRiO Upward Bound, etc. preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written – and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with diverse populations and internal and external constituents, including faculty, staff, administration, students, families, guidance counselors, etc.
  • Some evening and weekend work is required.


Manage TG Scholars Program at CHC:

  • Provide overall leadership for all aspects of the Tichenor-Greer Scholars Program
    • Oversee program budget
    • Coordinate with departments across the College
    • Assist in orientation and open house activities

Recruit TG Scholars for CHC:

  • Work directly with the Office of Admissions to recruit students for the Program.
  • Build a network of relationships with teachers, guidance counselors in high schools, and community-based organizations to identify prospective college students.
  • Facilitate STEM workshops for high school and middle school students to promote STEM education and to provide a pipeline for entry to Chestnut Hill College

Support and Retain Students Admitted into CHC’s TG Scholars Program:

  • Serve as Student Success Advocate for all students in the TG program
    • support the students through weekly meetings,
    • coordinate participation in service projects,
    • receive and review progress reports from faculty,
    • monitor tutoring,
    • provide additional support as needed
  • Develop an Orientation program for first-year students accepted into the TG program
  • Collaborate with Academic Support Staff in Student Success and all Academic Resource Centers, tutors, STEM faculty, Officer for Diversity and Inclusion, and Tichenor-Greer mentors to support, encourage and retain students in the Program.
  • Recruit and train student mentors for first-year students and sophomores from junior and senior Tichenor-Greer cohorts.

Community Outreach

  • Build relationships and work with non-profit organizations, schools, and external partners to promote STEM education and careers and the Tichenor-Greer Scholars Program.
  • Coordinate the development and management of programs for high school and middle school students that will help them consider and pursue STEM education and Careers
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
