Assistant Professor of Public Health - Healthcare Administration (22-70)

Francis Marion University and the Department of Healthcare Administration in the School of Health Sciences invite applications for a full-time, 9-month faculty position. The successful candidate will teach in the undergraduate Healthcare Administration program.


  1. Earned Doctorate in Public Health, Health Sciences or Healthcare Administration required [PhD or DrPH], ABD with completion imminent may be acceptable.
  2. Teaching or training experience preferred, virtual/online teaching experience strongly preferred,
  3. Experience in public health research preferred, and
  4. Commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Teaching in Healthcare Administration courses.
  2. Preparing course syllabi, examinations/tests, and learning resources/materials; submit required syllabi and reports to Department Chair as required.
  3. Participating in collaborative initiatives and research that involve students, community partners, and faculty.
  4. Mentoring and advising assigned students in the Healthcare Administration department.
  5. Participating in all departmental and university meetings in which a member.
  6. Participate in program, school, and university meetings with faculty to review and revise course materials as needed, evaluate student progress, problem solve other course related issues, and assure quality outcomes.
  7. Collaborate with Department Chair to select textbooks and other learning materials. Submit all requests for textbooks to appropriate staff.
  8. Arrange for required readings and other learning materials to be placed on reserve in the library.
  9. Report any relevant issues to Department Chair in timely fashion.
  10. Ensure that end of course report information is collected, analyzed, and reported to the Department Chair as required.
  11. Role models professional behavior and appearance.
  12. Participate in student recruitment activities (open houses, tours, scholarship interviews, and other designated events).

Position Type: This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position.

Formal Accountability: Reports to the Chair of the Healthcare Administration Department.

Professional Development: Francis Marion University provides generous support for conference travel when presenting. Summer research stipends are available on a competitive basis.

Salary: Hourly pay will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Start Date: January 2, 2023
