Position Highlights

The University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law invites applicants for the position of Academic Advising Professional II for Global Programs. Global Programs is a dynamic unit within the College of Law that serves main campus international students in Tucson, online students throughout the world, and students who study at our Global Locations in Cambodia, China, and Vietnam (with expanding locations in other countries.)

The Academic Advising Professional II works closely with the Assistant Dean of Global Programs and the Program Manager of Global Programs. This position is responsible for advising and support of our online and Global Locations students, including admissions, matriculation, advising, and degree audits. This position also requires frequent interaction with other units on campus, including University of Arizona International and SGPP. The Academic Advising Professional should be very comfortable interacting with individuals from different cultures and should be a team player who is nimble and able to multi-task.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor students' progress and determine whether degree requirements have been met
  • Assist students with registration
  • Counsel students on degree requirements
  • Work with partners at Global Locations and various UA units to develop and update course articulation plans
  • Work with College of Law Registrar to ensure appropriate courses are being offered at Global Locations
  • Works with Global Locations faculty to develop plans to assist students with poor academic performance
  • Evaluate use of transfer credits towards the degree
  • Create and update student handbooks
  • Maintain appropriate student records
  • Assist with graduation activities
  • Coordinate activities for students who choose to spend a semester studying in Tucson
  • Order and manage swag for Global Programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple competing demands and initiatives at once
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work with staff from other University of Arizona units
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with people from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work non-traditional business hours on occasion

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited university
  • 3 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education
  • International experience (either personal and/or professional)
  • Experience with UA data systems
  • Advanced experience with Excel
