Augustana University Department of Art invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2023. The department seeks to hire an artist and teacher with expertise in Design and Graphic Design. An MFA degree in art or design or a similar discipline is required. 

Successful applicants will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent teaching in a liberal arts environment and to mentoring undergraduate students, including in advising, research and pre-professional internship experiences. The candidate will be expected to teach art courses to both majors and non-majors. Candidates must be able to teach Design I, a required class for all art majors, Graphic Design I, and advanced Graphic Design courses. Other course offerings based on expertise may include new media, video, illustration, typography, motion graphics, web. Teaching load is 3 classes each Fall and Spring and 1 course in January term. The successful candidate must be willing and able to teach in both the traditional face-to-face and blended (hybrid) format. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain active professional development activities and service to the Department and University. Committee work is expected.
