The ideal candidate will have experience as a rhetorical scholar in the Communication Studies discipline.The position requiresteachingundergraduate and/or graduate courses offered in-personand onlinein both synchronous and asynchronousformats, demonstratingattention to the needs of the department's students, and collaboratingwith other departmental faculty and staff.The typicalcourse load involves teaching four courses per semester.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Teachundergraduate coursesin the department's Communication Studiesmajor coreand Public Communication course area,as well as specialized courses.
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as research, presentations, and publications.
  • Serve the University and the community through participation in various committees.
  • Mentoring and advising students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Communication Studies or Rhetorical Studies (ABD may be considered. Must be completed beforeAugust 2023).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses in public speaking, argumentation, rhetoricaltheoryand criticism, and/or rhetoric and persuasion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to develop specialized rhetoric courses.
  • Experience teaching in different modalities or use of flipped pedagogies.
  • Ability to teach graduate level courses.
  • Research interests that align with one or more of the following areas: critical rhetoric, race or ethnicity, gender, queer rhetoric, social justice, social movements, political rhetoric, and visual rhetoric.
