Director of Athletic Communication

The Director of Athletic Communication is responsible for all marketing and public relations of the Ohio Dominican athletic department. The position will develop and implement strategy to communicate, publicize and promote the athletic department to enhance the image of the university's 16 varsity sports. The director will target audiences and find ways to reach them with information about the University's student-athletes and athletic teams and project the image of the institution through its intercollegiate athletic programs.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain the athletic department's website and social media accounts.
  • Provide coverage for all 16 varsity sports, including but not limited to game previews, recaps, feature stories, and more.
  • Maintains stats and archives for the athletic department.
  • Assist in broadcasting of home and road sporting events.
  • Nominate student-athletes for awards.
  • Handles statistical and other reporting due to the conference office and NCAA.
  • Assists in all athletic department publications and communications.
  • Provides support for major athletic department functions such as the Hall of Fame, Academic Excellence, Student-Athlete Banquet, and other athletic department events.
  • Provides support for off-campus groups that host events at Ohio Dominican, such as the Ohio High School Athletic Association, and more.
  • Serves as member of Hall of Fame Committee and other committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Given: Sports Information Graduate Assistant, work study students, student interns and less experienced team members and/or in regard to specific projects


  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of collegiate sports information or similar experience.
  • Proficiency in stat software (StatCrew, Presto and/or Genius), website content management, and Adobe or similar products.

Communication Skills/Requirements:

Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing as to work requirements, work in progress, and/ or work completion. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality is required. This position requires professionalism, competence and a positive demeanor in the performance of all duties.

Reasoning Ability:

Most work is moderate to advanced complexity and requires judgment depending on departmental needs. Able to follow instructions and directions requiring normal periods of concentration. Requires the ability to decide on a course of action. Must be able to manage, organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
