Position Summary

Manage team in a manner consistent with WGU and Evaluation Department policies and procedures

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Direct the work of the logistic team's individual contributors
  • Demonstrate expert-level knowledge, experience, and skills related to the logistic team's process and procedures
  • Ensure teamwork is accurate, fair, helpful, and quick (SLA) by identifying, leading, and implementing projects to improve logistic processes in the Evaluation Department
  • Develop, lead, monitor, and analyze workflow, optimize team resources, so that the day-to-day operations are accomplished through individual contributor team members
  • Develop and supervise processes that appropriately protect sensitive information of employees in consultation with the People Organization
  • Leads the logistic team in demonstrating work behaviors that keep employee information and data confidential and secure within the scope of the team
  • Collaborates with other functions within the Evaluation Department and/or with other departments

Complexity:

  • Consistent application of people management practices and procedures in diverse and complex situations
  • Resolve complex personnel issues, consulting senior management as needed
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned projects and apply strong leadership skills to nurture a high-performing, cross-functional team environment
  • Actively listen to, involve, and represent Evaluation employees in the development of strategic initiatives and in matters that affect employees
  • Collaborate with employees throughout the university to find and deliver solutions that improves the quality of processes
  • Develop and implement initial and ongoing training
  • Monitor the quality of your team through design, development, testing, and ongoing implementation.
  • Plan, monitor, and manage projects through completion

Impact:

  • Influence the functional design of department policies, procedures and records focused on logistic related tasks
  • Manage the team representatives to meet the individual, team, and department objectives by setting individual and team goals.
  • Manage process improvement in tools used, workflow implemented, etc... with a focus on the impact on department budget and a successful employee experience
  • Lead process improvement in areas where process concerns are evident
  • Accountable for team performance of service level agreement to department teams
  • Leads the team in individual and team coaching, and all aspects of personnel management for the team

  • Self-managed in taking initiative and acting independently
  • Manage team(s) to provide services that are consistent with standard practices and policies so that the team's process is accurate, fair, helpful & quick
  • Adheres to university practices for management and applies appropriate judgment to ongoing performance management of the team
  • Connect and coordinate within the team, the evaluation management, People and Talent Acquisition, and any applicable cross-functional groups
  • Collaborate with the Evaluation Directors and Evaluation Leadership to identify and respond to trends, opportunities, and challenges identified
  • Foster strong collaborative and team-oriented approaches in a remote setting, rectifying and safeguarding against gaps in communication
  • Identify problems/inefficiencies and guides innovative solutions for improvement
  • Exercise independent judgment, ingenuity, and resourcefulness in determining how to achieve results within defined policies and procedures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Understanding and appreciation of WGU's competency-based education model
  • Experience leading teams focused on student support and instruction
  • Documented use of technology-based educational delivery systems
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a leadership and guiding role that enhances employee achievement toward educational goals in a competency-based learning environment
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze program metrics to support data-driven decisions
  • Track record for effective coaching and communication skills with a widely diverse employee population with exceptional and persuasive communication skills, oral and written.
  • Track records for effective communication and collaboration with a diverse professional population of WGU colleagues, partners, and stakeholder professional integrity that represent the educational standards within higher education
  • Displays commitment to the organization and to personal growth; self-motivated and able to motivate and inspire others; asserts self appropriately to champion ideas; tells the truth in a direct and constructive manner.
  • Displays adaptability and behaviors and communication style to meet the needs of a wide range of situations; tackles obstacles appropriately; is comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Ability to maintain a clear focus on student achievement possesses the ability to keep the student at the center of what we do, and why we do it.
  • Exhibits passion for improving the educational experiences of our students by creating lasting partnerships with other departments and related stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Education
  • 3+ years of K-12 or Higher Ed teaching experience
  • Current or Past Teaching Certification in K-12 Education
  • Leadership experience in an academic environment
  • Experience Advancing Equity in Leadership, Management, and Hiring of Employees

**Master's degree outside of Education may be accepted if candidate has the other requisites -current or past K-12 Teaching Certification AND Education leadership experience in Higher Education or K-12

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Education
  • Experience in Educational Psychology and Educational Foundations
  • Experience with initial licensure programs highly preferred
  • Virtual Leadership experience in an academic environment is highly preferred
  • Experience as an Evaluator at WGU
