Position Highlights

The Marketing Department, Eller College of Management, is seeking applicants for a full-time Coordinator of Events and Communication. The selected applicant will plan, manage, and implement communications and events geared toward engaging the stakeholders and communities relevant to the Marketing Department. The Marketing Department hosts events throughout the year that focus on faculty and research, programs, and communities. Department events could occur outside of standard business hours including evening and weekend responsibilities. While the daily work schedule may be variable depending on the event schedule, the overall responsibilities of this position would still be completed within a standard forty-hour work week. The Department of Marketing is a highly cohesive unit and a successful candidate will excel as a member of a team environment while being able to work independently.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Marketing Department Head, Faculty, and the Department Staff team to develop plans and strategies to schedule and host events throughout the academic year.
  • Oversee all aspects of events, including invitation, venue, scheduling, catering, facilities, rentals, decor, entertainment, permits, transportation, AV needs, videographer/photographer, staffing, publicity, guest services (trips, accommodation, etc.), and other relevant activities.
  • Evaluate on-going and new events and recommend improvements based on interpretation of outcomes; use innovation and creativity to develop new approaches, methods, or techniques to improve event success.
  • Coordinate event expense payments (via p-card, purchase requisitions, interdepartmental billings, etc.) in accordance with department and university policy and within department approved budget allocation.
  • Following the Eller editorial style guide, write original copy for communications materials such as letters, news articles, brochures, email nurturing/recruitment campaigns, and web pages.
  • Work with the Eller MarComm team and program coordinators to generate leads for graduate programs and recruit students; use Salesforce CRM as appropriate.
  • Using the college's enterprise tool, collaborate with the Eller MarComm team to create and post engaging social media content for the college's and department's channels.
  • Maintain content on department webpages.
  • Work with marketing academic program directors to promote the programs and recruit students.
  • Work with the department head and Eller MarComm team to update the annual marketing department newsletter.
  • Coordinate the production and mailing of the newsletters to AACSB deans, department chairs, and other relevant parties.
  • Provide written output such as departmental communications, website content, news articles, brochure copy, presentations, and other communication tools.
  • Select and order imprinted promotional items for marketing academic programs.
  • Work with Eller's Development team, UA Foundation, and department faculty committees to coordinate the scholarship awarding process in Scholarship Universe.
  • Coordinate with the Eller MarComm team on the creation of visual assets including photos and video.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Department Head.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in arts, communication,
    marketing, or a relevant area, or equivalent advanced learning attained through
    professional level experience.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in graphic design.
  • Related work experience in an academic environment, especially higher education administration.
