Position Highlights
The University of Arizona College of Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine invites applicants to apply for the position of Medical Assistant for a CDC-funded Influenza cohort study. The position is responsible for supporting licensed nurses (RNs) and clinical research coordinators with scheduling and overseeing clinical research visits where vaccines will be administered to enrolled and consented research participants. The duties of this position will include providing routine administrative and clinical support to the research team as well as engaging with research participants.This is a grant funded position.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Greets and rooms patients and coordinates with nurses and research coordinators during patient visits.
- Assists licensed nurses with procedures, included but not limited to, giving influenza vaccines and obtaining patient samples.
- Maintains a clean environment; cleaning of clinic rooms, instruments, and equipment; and ensures universal precautions including infection control are maintained.
- Answers telephones, takes precise messages and information of providers, and routes calls as necessary.
- Provides routine administrative support to research projects (photocopies, files, and record keeping).
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
- Prior work experience not required.
Preferred Qualifications
*Clinical certification and/or licensure. *Bilingual in English/Spanish. *3-4 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant. *Experience with computer/electronic medical record system. *Biosafety, HIPAA, CITI (Biomedical Research Investigators), and biospecimen shipping training.
