Business IT Partners

Primary Position Function/Summary:

The Data Analyst will serve as part of the IT Partners Data Strategy, Analytics, and reporting (DSAR) group and will oversee data operations around learning outcomes assessment, instructional reporting, research, and program improvement for Gies College of Business, working closely with Gies College of Business campus, teaching and learning, and online programs staff.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Assessment and continuous improvement data coordination and reporting:

-       Document and execute processes related to the continuous improvement process of Gies College of Business programs, including analytics around student learning, outcomes, and instructor evaluation
-       Develop and maintain standardized reports, including written reports, visualizations, and automated data reports, for faculty, staff, and students through coordination with other teams, such as the Content & Education Portfolio Strategy team
-       Maintain a robust set of analytics to understand and communicate the health and growth of Gies College of Business programs
-       Develop and deploy training materials to assist faculty and staff with utilizing assessment and continuous improvement products

Data analysis and research:

-       Along with other members of the Data Strategy, Analytics, and Reporting team, as well as faculty and members of coordinating units, create and maintain a research and analytics strategy around assessment, program improvement, and evaluation for Gies College of Business programs.
-       Assist the Data Strategy, Analytics, and Reporting team as a program evaluation and learning outcomes expert, participating in analytical projects that require that perspective
-       Conduct other research projects as assigned and necessary for related work
-       Share research findings via white papers, peer-refereed journals, and at practitioner and academic conferences

Data support for leadership:

-       Make and recommend complex curriculum-related decisions based on research on our college, colleges in our field, and accreditation standards for higher education
-       Develop dashboards and visualizations to highlight findings and to support high-level strategies and priorities
-       Assist IT and departmental staff with the process of developing complex automations to provide real-time data to unit and College leadership
-       Write well-evidenced narratives, interpret statistics, analyze trends to guide academic programs, curriculum design and redesign, and planning

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in statistics, education, psychology, sociology, business, or related field. One year of work experience in data analytics in an educational environment. Demonstrated experience in generating data visualizations and reports (such as Tableau or PowerBI).

Preferred Qualifications
Master's or Ph.D. degree in statistics, education, psychology, sociology, business, or related field
Three years of experience in data analytics in an educational environment, including learning outcomes, instructional pedagogy, or accreditation. Experience with online students, adult populations, or business education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

-       Expertise in data analytics and statistics.
-       The ability to use data to answer questions and solve problems.
-       Current knowledge and experience with online course design.
-       Knowledge of academic assessment practices and academic data analysis.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search closing date. Salary is commensurate with experience.
