Network/System Administrator
Southeastern Louisiana University's Office of Technology invites applications for the position of Network Administrator.
The Network Administrator has a wide variety of complex, highly diverse responsibilities. Because of the critical nature systems engineering plays in the functioning of the University, several functions/responsibilities of this position are shared with the Network Engineer. These shared functions include maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting large systems such as VMWare, Linux, wireless systems, VoIP systems, as well as network switches, routers, and firewalls, for security violations, performance problems, and related activities. Troubleshooting skills and critical thinking play a large role in day-to-day activities.

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Must be committed to working with diversity
  • Must possess a valid Louisiana driver's license and the ability to successfully complete the Southeastern Driver Safety Course.
  • Existing server, network, and data center management experience
  • 2 years of relevant IT experience
  • Knowledge of network switching and routing,VLANs and firewallsKnowledge of HTTP, TLS/SSL, LDAP, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP and associated protocols
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cyber threats and security best practices
  • Basic knowledge of Windows server operating systems
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Powershell, PHP, Python, Bash
