Position Announcement

The IT Technical Support Coordinator works as an IT Technical Support team member, supporting the University's computer technology needs. This position is primarily responsible for the management and maintenance of the University's computer labs (Mac and Windows) and printing environment, and for coordinating university-wide IT procurement requests, including consulting with departments on computer equipment (desktop, laptop, tablet, etc.) specifications and performance needs. Additionally, this position collaborates and coordinates with the IT Systems Admin team on the use of SCCM and Intune for lab imaging and software deployment. The position also works closely with the IT Systems/Technical Support Administrator and the IT Tech Team to provide technical support and training to the university community.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research andanalysisof all IT equipment purchases, including responding to requests for general purchasing or technical information received by work order system, phone, mail and/or email, and researching warranty information on IT equipment and working with vendor on return merchandise authorization or replacement as needed.
  • Provide quotes for campus bids, departmental agencies, and Information Technology projects.
  • Assist in the development of proposals for the procurement of information systems and components.
  • Assist University departments in the purchase of IT resources and ensure that all IT purchases meet current IT standards.
  • Identify state contracted vendors and work directly with employees or vendors to complete Purchase Requisition documentation.
  • Manage and maintain the University campus lab environment. This includes ensuring computers are functional, labs have the needed software, and the computers meet current IT specifications.
  • Manage and maintain the University student printing environment. This includes identifying the appropriate hardware to meet student printing needs for specific areas across the University, ensuring printers are functional and properly maintained by the contracted support vendor, and managing vendor relationships.
  • Recommend and facilitate a computer lab refresh and cascade replacement plan to ensure adequate computing resources are provided to meet computing needs.
  • Assist with day-to-day IT problem resolution, and provide assistance and support to Utah Tech employees.
  • Assist campus with adoption of innovative technologies.
  • Provide technical support, best practices, and training across the University.
  • Develop technical procedures, reports, and user documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required.
  • Two years' relevant IT experience required; Apple and Dell certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and keep up-to-date with emerging technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written), and maintain composure in a fast-paced office environment with multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Ability to organize and switch efficiently between tasks.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware, printers, and other IT related equipment.
  • Ability to research, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to hardware and software.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $50,000+ depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of September 2022.
