Job Description

The Boston College Bands Program seeks a part-time Pep Band Conductor to provide instruction and support for the Pep Band at men's and women's basketball and hockey home games. The Boston College Bands Program serves some 250 students each year as members of five musical ensembles and a dance team. The professionals of the Bands Program advance, support, promote and facilitate student formation through teaching, rehearsing and performing music and dance. The Pep Band Music Director joins the professionals of the Bands Program in promoting and facilitating student formation, building life skills and maintaining a positive work environment.

Applicants should have experience instructing successful instrumental ensembles and should be familiar with athletic band roles and responsibilities. Additional responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, integrating new members, scheduling members for home games and tournament travel, and monitoring the musical quality of the ensemble to ensure it is of the highest quality.

This position averages about 15 hour per week (October through April) and applicants must be available for all winter sports home games, designated spring tournament travel, and occasional command performances.

Bachelor's degree in Music or related field
1-3 years successful experience leading a musical ensemble
Must be able to relate to, teach, and motivate college students
Must be available for frequent evening and weekend performances

Some experience with inventory control is desirable
