Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance (2022)

The Washington and Lee University Accounting and Finance Department plans to hire up to two full-time tenure-track positions in Finance at the assistant or associate level (without tenure) beginning July 1st, 2023. The area of research specialty is open. We are particularly interested in candidates with teaching interests in Corporate Finance and Real Estate Finance. The successful candidates will teach the required Managerial Finance course and elective courses in finance.

Both positions require a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment and value interdisciplinary approaches to pedagogy. Our school calendar consists of two 12-week terms, one in the fall and one in the winter, and a 4-week spring term. The teaching load is 5.5 courses per year, with the half course most often taught every other year in our unique spring term. Faculty are also expected to have an active research program. To support faculty research agendas, the university offers a summer research grant program, a generous five-year sabbatical cycle as well as a pre-tenure research leave program. The university subscribes to Bloomberg, Factset and several databases accessible through WRDS.

A doctorate in finance or related field from an AACSB accredited school.

Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in teaching finance at the undergraduate level are required.
